We could talk at length about the bottom end, imaging, dynamics and other deeply serious, audiophile concerns, but we think hi-fi is supposed to be about passion for the music. As with all the AMS Series, the AMS35p is presented in elegant casework, whose appearance and manufacture are designed to stand the test of time. We could do no less than offer top quality materials and workmanship to complement the fabulous circuitry within. While the AMS35p is not cheap, it represents good value. The front panel, top and back are machined from solid milspec aluminium, and finished to meet our exacting specifications. The heat sinks are custom made, fine line extrusions, finished to a high level. The AMS35p is available with a Titanium G2 front panel, finished in either silver with silver badge, or black with silver badge. The effort lavished on the outside of the AMS35p not only reflects the exceptional circuitry inside, it also ensures that it has a long, long life.

The AMS35p 35 watts per channel, pure Class A (8 ohms), dual mono power amp is designed to offer a very high level of sonic and technical performance, in a beautifully finished, relatively compact form. Inside the AMS35p is circuitry that is closely related to its highly related sibling, the AMS50. Just like its big brother, the AMS35p has very low distortion over a wide bandwidth, very low noise, excellent stability margins and high current delivery. It has an almost identical sound to the AMS50, but is not as powerful. The AMS35p drives most loudspeakers easily. We do not recommend speakers with a sensitivity below 86dB, unless you are using them in a relatively small room. Apart from that, the AMS35p will handle any loudspeaker without problem or strain. Because of its high peak current (over 100 amps peak to peak), the AMS35p is, in real life, a really big amp.

The sound of the AMS35P is unmistakably pure Class A
The sound of the AMS35p is immediately engaging. The imaging is tactile and seems to have a living presence. The top end is sweet and extended. The bottom end is vast and powerful. The sense of space and air is remarkable. It has all the highly enjoyable attributes that have made pure Class A so desirable. The sound has a calm and relaxing quality (as compared with the music, which may be stimulating in the extreme!) that enables you to relax and immerse yourself in the music. The AMS35p sounds and feels so right that you can forget about the hi-fi and simply listen to the music. For us, at Musical Fidelity, that is job done.

The AMS35P is the AMS50’s little brother
Because the AMS50 is AMS35p are brothers, their sound, as well as their circuitry, is closely related. However, the AMS50 sound is bigger and more powerful, as it should be, considering that it is a much bigger amp and costs much more. But with your eyes closed, it is difficult to tell the siblings apart. That is the idea behind the AMS35p, because it has been designed for music lovers who love the sound of the AMS50 but cannot stretch to the AMS50’s price or accommodate its large size. In addition, the AMS35p provides another way to get the most out of the primo preamp, which has received wonderful reviews for its great performance and sound quality. Until now, only the AMS50 or Titan could do justice to the primo, which meant that the choice of appropriate amp was between expensive or very expensive, big or huge. We recognise that this choice is not to everybody’s taste or budget, and that we must provide a worthy alternative. The AMS35p is designed for music lovers who want the primo’s exquisite sonic performance, and want to use it with an amp from our pure Class A series, but who prefer a more compact package and a lower price.
