Heco ALEVA – Elegance has a new definition
The slim, graceful Aleva range is the latest creation from Heco’s engineers. Their clean lines will grace any home, but with the sound of the first note played it is immediately apparent that their beauty is more than skin deep. The braced MDF enclosures are enveloped in a gloss lacquer or a fine genuine wood veneer finish, making them extremely inert. “Less is more” might also be the motto for the drive units. Here, everything with a metallic gleam is made from diamond finished aluminium. The die-cast tweeter flange has a short horn attachment for improved acoustic coupling. Heco traditionally uses an extremely light 25 mm fabric dome in the treble range, combined with a highly efficient double-magnet system.

The bandwidth extends upwards to 42 kHz. The amplitude and phase corrected crossovers have high quality copper wiring and very high grade components. They offer the facility for biwiring and for operation with a +2dB high frequency boost if the speakers need to be widely spaced in a large room or one with many soft furnishings. Even the largest gauge speaker cables can be accommodated by the gold-plated, heavy duty binding posts. The wide bandwidth Aleva woofer/subwoofers cannot quite conceal their technical roots. For example, the Heco engineers have used a specially developed strong paper as its cone material.

However, the Aleva range is not just intended for music lovers; it is also ideal for demanding home cinema enthusiasts. The Aleva 500 and 400 standalone speakers are accompanied by the Aleva 200 compact monitor, that is ideally suited for duties as a rear speaker. The range also includes a centre speaker and an active subwoofer for low bass range enhancement. The centre unit is magnetically shielded as well as being optimised for best possible speech reproduction. The active subwoofer, classically designed as a front firing unit, is the dedicated to the reproduction of accurate bass. Its integral power amp has an output of 300 watts, sufficient to exert absolute control over the long throw 250 mm subwoofer with its toughened paper cone and die-cast aluminium chassis. Flow-optimised bass reflex ports are bolted to the cabinet allowing the subwoofer to breathe freely without unwanted turbulence. High precision is ensured by a real-time limiter and active frequency response rectification. Absolute stability on all surfaces can be achieved using either the metal spiked feet or rubber pucks supplied with all models in the Aleva range.
