First introduced in 1957, the Heresy was arguably the world's first center channel speaker, designed to be used with a pair of Klipschorns in a three speaker stereo array. Legend has it that an acquaintance told Paul Klipsch that his new design was in direct violation of his own fully horn-loaded principles and that it amounted to acoustic heresy. Apparently Mr. Klipsch didn't object... and decided to use the name for his new product. Today's Heritage Series Heresy III is a compact, three-way design using horn-loaded compression drivers for mid-range and treble reproduction and a direct radiating 12" woofer to carry the low frequencies. From it, you will hear the result of over 55 years of stringent engineering and class-leading research and development. Like all Klipsch products, the Heresy III features Horn-loaded Technology -- the guiding design for the first Klipschorn developed in 1946 and for every product that has followed. Horn-loading allows the speaker to deliver very high sensitivity, low distortion, flat frequency response, and broad, controlled dispersion. This translates to unequaled power, detail, and dynamics, the hallmarks of "The Klipsch Sound."

Upgrades Ala Mode

Today, the new Heresy III has a more powerful woofer, a bi-wire network, and a titanium diaphragm tweeter with a larger magnet assembly. The midrange compression driver also features a new titanium diaphragm, an upgrade from the phenolic model in its predecessor. All of these changes result in improved tonal balance and increased output. In fact, the Heresy III is three decibels louder (96 to 99dB) than the original, improving on its already high sensitivity.
